Shodokan Musashino
Shodokan Musashino was established in 2000 under the Japan Aikido Association (JAA) as well as the Shodokan Aikido International Network.
Aikido is a modern Japanese Martial Art developed by Morihei Ueshiba from ancient Jujutsu styles. Shodokan Aikido is a style founded by Kenji Tomiki, one of his earliest students. It incorporates both formal paired kata training and "freestyle" randori.
Randori is important since it teaches us to apply and counter techniques under difficult circumstances. Unlike Judo randori, which includes grappling and throwing techniques, Shodokan randori uses striking and joint techniques.
If you'd like to come to Tokyo for Aikido practice, we'd welcome you anytime!

About Us - Top
Shodokan Musashino was founded by Ryuichi Sato Sensei May, 2000.
Conveniently located close to Kichijoji Station (JR line, Keio Inokashira line) in Musashino city, Tokyo, we specialize mainly in the guidance of "kata" and "randori". We find that each balances the other well.
We have had excellent results in some tournaments. Of course, they've been both Randori and Kata!
If you'd like to come to Tokyo for Aikido practice, we'd welcome you anytime!

Ryuichi Sato Sensei's Bio
Ryuichi Sato Sensei was born in Tokyo. He attended Kokushikan University and quickly became a member of the aikido club. It was here that he had a fateful encounter with Tetsuro Nariyama Shihan that determined his future.
In his fourth year of university, he was selected captain of Kokushikan University Aikido Club.
After graduation, he entered a graduate school of Sports Systems to research Aikido in a more scientific manner.
However, because he wanted a higher level of training, he enrolled in the Shodokan Honbu Dojo of Tetsuro Nariyama Shihan in Osaka to master his technique.
He finished the training of four years there and went on to establish his own dojo in Tokyo in 2000.
